Today, the services of Google and YouTube have affected largely in various parts of the world. Users from Europe and the United States faced difficulties in using YouTube, Gmail, and Google Docs.

The prominent services offered by Google closed as users saw error options while opening the services, such as Google Docs, Gmail, and YouTube. The services went closed for an hour in different parts, such as the UK, Europe, US, and Russia.

Outages

The outages reported today have created chaos for some time over the internet world.  According to the data provided by DownDetector, a large number of people have reported issues even using Google. According to DownDetector, severe cases were registered in many parts of Europe, especially in London.

During outage time, users saw the message “Something went wrong…” when they tried to open YouTube. Gmail showed “Try again later” after Google’s services terminated for a brief period of time.

BBC contacted Google, and one spokesperson of Google stated that “they were unable to access their email.” According to the Wall Street Journal:

“The outage had an immediate effect on tens of millions of people who have had to stay home on and off for the better part of a year because of the coronavirus pandemic. Remote work and learning have left businesses and individuals more dependent than ever on online services, for which Google is one of the most widely used providers.”

The Reaction of the Crypto Community

Over the outages, crypto members have also reacted while giving their views over it. They even compared this centralized system with the decentralized nature of Bitcoin. For instance, Riccardo Spagni reacted to it and said,”Bitcoin fixes this.”

Due to the closing of Google, users were unable to perform operations over centralized cryptocurrency exchanges. Similarly, the option of two-factor authentication was also unavailable due to an error in the network.

Some personalities of the crypto space pointed out that centralized entities are affected while decentralized Bitcoin is working properly.

However, after some time, the services of Google have become functional again after thousands of users received error messages.

Gmail of Google was also suffered last year and they labeled it a “cascading failure” as there was a problem reported an “internal storage service.”

In its entire history, the world’s leading digital asset went down two times: the first time in 2010 and the second time in 2013.
